2019 - Pitt 20 Ohio 10 football

Pitt’s defense has been improving since the last 6 games of 2018. Remove the ACC Championship game vs Clemson, Pitt hasn’t allowed more than 24 points in any game since.

Saturday was no different. The Panthers youthful defense shut down the Ohio Bobcats en route to a 20-10 win at Heinz Field on Saturday.

After getting on the board with 27 yard field goal by junior Alex Kessman, Pitt’s offense sprung to life on its next possession.

Pitt junior QB Kenny Pickett threw a laser on a dig route by Panthers senior WR Maurice Ffrench who scampered 74 yards to pay dirt. Pitt led 10-0.

The Bobcats answered with a field goal of their own but Pitt went back to the running game and Pickett handed the ball off to Pitt true freshman running back Vincent Carter inside the 3 yard line. Carter ran in untouched to lift Pitt to a 17-3 lead.

Kessman would add a 41 yard field in the 3rd Quarter to put Pitt up 20-3 until De’Montre Tuggle powered his way from 7 yards out for Ohio’s only TD of the day.

The Pitt defense would shut down the Bobcats the rest of the way en route to the 20-10 win.

Led by Pitt redshirt sophomore DT Jaylen Twyman who had monster game with 3 sacks and added another tackle, Pitt dominated the line of scrimmage. He played in Ohio’s backfield all game.
