Robert Washington visit

imageRobert Washington RB East Gaston HS Mount Holly, NC was originally scheduled to visit Pitt January 15th and the University of Alabama January 22nd.
At the time of my last article coach Andre Powell was a able to secure the last possible weekend for the official visit of January 29th.

Washington has within the last 24 hours changed his plans again. Now He’ll visit Pitt January 15th, TCU January 22nd and his final visit will be to Alabama.

For those not familiar, the 5’10” 215 lb RB was one the most highly sought after recruits in the 2016 class early in his HS career. Living with his father until his junior year he achieved 4* status with 43 offers from every P5 conference in CFB. Spring of Washington’s junior year he initially tried to commit to the University of Florida. Florida would not accept his commitment at the time. Within a half of an hour he changed his commitment to Syracuse. Syracuse thought so highly of Washington they were going to allow him to wear the fabled #44 worn by Jim Brown, Ernie Davis and Floyd Little.

Not long after his commitment to Syracuse his relationship with his father had become a toxic situation. Washington made the decision to leave North Carolina and relocate to live with his mother in Connecticut. In an odd set of events his relationship deteriorated quickly with his mother. Not being able to return home to North Carolina with his father he became homeless for a short period of time. During this period of homelessness he missed a significant portion of the end of his junior year. Washington decommitted from Syracuse in August of 2015.
