Pitt at Notre Dame - Feb. 5, 2020 - 6:30PM - Live Game Thread
Pitt (14-8, 5-6) faces off against Notre Dame (13-8, 4-6), in what will be a tough road ACC matchup. Ryan Murphy will sit out with a concussion for the second straight game.
Players to watch tonight:
Notre Dame - John Mooney. The senior forward is putting up gaudy numbers for the Irish this year, averaging a double-double with 16.5 points and 13.2 rebounds per game. This impressive stat-line actually improves on his double-double average from a year ago--14.1 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. He's been just a 31.7 percent three-point shooter this year so far, but with a career 37.6 percent mark, Mooney is a true threat from anywhere on the floor.
Pitt - Au'Diese Toney. Going back to Nov. 27, 2019, Toney has 10.8 points on 54.1 percent shooting (38.5 percent from three-point range), 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. He's been an absolute force for the Panthers. The numbers are even better since his return from an elbow injury on Jan. 12, 2020--13.0 points on 52.2 percent shooting (42.1 percent from three-point range), 6.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals. There hasn't been a more important Panther for the past month, and maybe longer.
The Panthers have a 26 percent chance of winning according to ESPN, and Notre Dame is favored by 6 points. According to KenPom's college basketball rankings, Pitt sits at no. 82, while Miami is currently ranked no. 57.
