It wasn’t pretty offensively. It doesn’t have to be in the ACC Coastal division. A win is a win.
The Miami Hurricanes came into Heinz Field and basically stole a win over the Pitt Panthers on Saturday, 16-12, in front of an announced crowd of 47,918.
Pitt didn’t help their chances by turning the ball over 3 times including 2 interceptions thrown by Panthers junior QB Kenny Pickett and a fumble by junior WR Taysir Mack.
With the score tied at 3 late in the first quarter, Miami’s cornerback DJ Ivey picked off Pickett and return it 28 yards to the Pitt 17.
Hurricanes QB N’Kosi Perry then connected with TE Brevin Jordan for 9 yards to the Pitt 8
Backup Miami tailback Cam’Ron Harris then ran it 7 yards to the Pitt 1 and 2 snaps later scampered to paydirt. Miami 10 Pitt 3.
Pitt would later pull within 10-9 by the 4th Qtr on successive field goals by junior PK Alex Kessman on a pair of 29 yard field goals.
This would eventually lead up to Pitt getting a 1st and goal at the 1. Pitt would get stuffed on 3 downs inside the 1 and settled for a 4th field goal by Kessman to lead 12-10.
Miami then turned the offense over to QB Jarren Williams who eventually tossed the game winning TD on a slant to WR K.J. Osborn for 32 yards to salt the victory, 16-12 with 58 seconds left.
Next up: Pitt at Georgia Tech, 4pm EST, TV Fox Sports Regional
Pitt is now 11-27 against Miami all-time including 3-20 since 1984.
