Ohio LB Anthony McKee to visit Pitt

“It looks like I’ll be visiting Pitt sometime after June 12th.  I’ll possibly visit on June 13th.  The coaching staff wants me to go after the 12th so I can meet member of the football team and ask them questions,” stated Columbus (OH) Walnut Ridge linebacker Anthony McKee (6-foot-2 inches, 195 pounds).

McKee has accumulated 16 scholarship offers including Pitt, Arkansas, Boston College, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan State, Syracuse, Tennessee, West Virginia, Toledo and Purdue.  His primary contact with Pitt has been offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph.

“I speak with Pitt daily,” he said.  “I communicate through social media, especially Facebook.   I really like Coach Rudolph.”

McKee is an outstanding athlete capable of playing a number of positions.  He added, “Most of the schools recruiting me like me at outside linebacker.  Some like me at free safety.  I’m actually open to both sides of the ball.  I’m going to be playing slot receiver and running back this season.  We’ll see how I like those positions as well.”

Anthony was asked to specify his strengths at the linebacker position.  He quickly replied, “My speed is a big part of my game.  I can come in and hit.  I’m a stronger blitzer and I cover receivers as well.”

McKee personifies the word ‘tough’.  He injured his shoulder prior to his 2013 season but opted to delay surgery until after the season.

“I’m looking forward to going down and seeing what Pitt has to offer.  I hear the city is really nice.  They are strongly in the mix.”
