Pitt head coach Paul Chryst and offensive line coach Jim Hueber covet large, physical offensive linemen.  Two outstanding prospects from Western Pennsylvania will be camping at Pitt this summer: Harmony (PA) Seneca Valley Tyler Hudanick (6-foot-5 inches, 290 pounds) and Library (PA) South Park Ryan Podgorski (6-foot-5 inches, 280 pounds).

DreamBackfield.com caught up with Hudanick to discuss the status of his recruitment.

“I have received nine scholarship offers to date,” he said.  “Akron, Old Dominion, Miami (OH), Bowling Green, Toledo, Colgate, Buffalo, Bucknell and Duquesne.”

Pitt, Penn State, Virginia, Notre Dame, Temple and Boston College have expressed strong interest in his services.  Hudanick is a powerful, physical lineman that plays with a bit of ‘nasty’ on the football field.  He’s got exceptional mobility for his size and sticks with his blocks until the whistle.  Tyler is capable of playing either guard or tackle on the next level.

“I plan on attending Pitt’s summer prospect camp on June 6th.  I keep in regular contact with Pitt.  Coach Chryst is doing a good job.  He has the team on track,” he said.  “I believe they will be winning a lot more games in the future.”

Tyler was asked to comment on his strengths at the offensive line position.  He quickly stated, “I’m highly competitive.  I go into each game with the mindset that I’m not going to be beat.  I’m all about helping my team win.”

Hudanick will play both offensive and defensive tackle his senior season.  He has been a two year, two way starter for Seneca Valley High School.  Tyler is capable of bench pressing 315 pounds and squatting 500 pounds.

“I will probably make my decision prior to my senior season.  I want to evaluate my offers at that time,” he said.  “I will camp at Pitt early June then will head to Virginia for camp.  I want to visit a number of schools as well.”

“My choice will come down to how comfortable I feel with the coaching staff.  I want to go to a team that has a family atmosphere.  Academics are important to me as well.”

Pitt has already received a commitment from Canonsburg (PA) Canon McMillan offensive guard Alex Paulina.  At least two more offensive linemen will be added to the class of 2015.
