Coleman Visits Pitt

Four days before opening his first fall practice at Pitt, Pat Narduzzi hosted one of the top cornerbacks in the state.

Brashear cornerback Therran Coleman (6-1, 181) made a visit to the Pitt South Side complex and DreamBackfield.com had a chance to talk with him after his visit.

“Pitt was good today. I was there to go over film and to learn some of the things that they do defensively.”   Coleman tells me that he watched film with Pitt defensive coordinator Josh Conklin, linebacker coach Rob Harley and defensive backs coach Renaldo Hill.

After watching film, Coleman then met with Narduzzi and the rest of the Pitt staff to talk about how his workouts are going and they also wanted to know how his recent visit to Wisconsin went.

Obviously, Pitt coaches want a commitment from Coleman but didn’t press him on it, “he (Narduzzi) didn’t ask me about it today but he usually does.”

So how did the trip to Wisconsin go?

“I went to Wisconsin yesterday and everything went great. The thing I like most about Wisconsin is the coaches,” Coleman said.

Coleman tells me that right now he doesn’t have any other scheduled visits.

One other thing that Coleman told me is despite the rumors, West Virginia isn’t his leading school telling DreamBackfield.com, “Honestly, I don’t have a top school.”

Another thing that was making its way on Twitter was that Coleman could be  close to making a decision. That isn’t the case.

The 3-star cornerback told me that he’d like to make all of his official visits before deciding.  Right now, Coleman wants to make officials visits to Pitt, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Arizona State.

Due to those official visits, Coleman appears to be long way from making his college decision.  According to Coleman, “My decision date was for mid-August but it may change….I might commit after the season.”

Whether the decision is made in the next few weeks or the next few months, Coleman says he will make his decision live on KDKA-TV.

I would call Coleman a priority recruit for Pitt. Given Narduzzi’s track record of developing secondary talent, a future defensive backfield of Coleman, Jordan Whitehead, Damar Hamlin, Paris Ford, Lamont Wade and Khaleke Hudson could mean plenty of wins for the Pitt football program.

Easy now. Whitehead, of course, is already a Panther. The rest of those guys have not even committed to a school yet. Counting your chickens before they hatch, no?
