Aliquippa is no stranger to sending their elite players to Pitt. Mike Ditka, Sean Gilbert, Darrelle Revis and Jon Baldwin are just a few former Quips that turned into Panthers. Pitt may have missed out on a few from the 2014 class but they are working extremely hard to lock up a 2016 Athlete.

Dreambackfield.com caught up with Kaezon Pugh (6’2” 210 lbs.) to speak about what is going on with his recruitment.

Pugh, who rushed for 389 yards as a sophomore behind primary backs Dravon Henry (WVU) and Terry Swanson (Toledo), started talking to Pitt following his sophomore season.

“Coach Rudolph is my recruiter, we talk regularly. He’s cool, a real cool person.”

There are already two scholarship offers extended to Pugh and they are from Pitt and West Virginia. Pugh said, “I like that Pitt is close to home and I like the campus at West Virginia, and the coaching staff.”

Penn State and Toledo are other schools that are showing interest in Pugh. He has visited both Pitt and West Virginia already this summer and plans to visit Penn State and Toledo during the remaining month and a half of summer.

As far as Pitt is concerned, Pugh has only been to one game and that was the ACC opener against Florida State in 2013. When asked about what stands out about Pitt, Pugh replied simply “it’s close to home.” He also knows standouts Tyler Boyd and James Conner.

Pugh, who also plays basketball, is no stranger to hearing about the ‘Aliquippa to Pitt’ pipeline. “Yeah, I know about it and you never know though. My situation could be different.”

This offseason, Pugh worked very hard on improving his speed. He said, “I did a lot of cardio this offseason.”

We asked Pugh about who his favorites are right now and his answer was “Pitt, Penn State and West Virginia. Pitt is first because of their closeness.”
