2016 Linebacker Roland Walder (6’2” 220 lbs.) hasn’t been recruited by Pitt for long but he’s already very fond of his primary recruiter.

Dreambackfield.com caught up with Walder to discuss the Panther’s involvement in his recruitment.

“They started talking to me with about a month left in school. Coach Rudolph came to one of my practices. We talk about twice a week.”

Walder likes how honest Rudolph is with him. “He’s just an open person, he’s honest. Some coaches don’t tell you what you need to improve on but he tells me what I need to do to get better. He likes me and I like him too.”

Rudolph told Walder that he likes his fast tempo and that he would fit in well at Pitt.

Walder plays for Trotwood-Madison High School. That is the same high school that current linebackers Bam Bradley and Nick Grigsby attended. He said, “I talked to Bam the other day. He really enjoys going to Pitt. He fell in love with it the first time and hopes I’ll do the same when I visit.”

Schools such as Bowling Green, Kentucky, Robert Morris and Toledo have offered Walder along with Pitt. He is also getting recruited by Ohio State and Cincinnati.

Pitt likes Walder as an Outside Linebacker. He will play a little of both Outside Linebacker and Inside Linebacker this upcoming season.

Two schools that are sticking out for him are Pitt and Kentucky. “I haven’t visited Pitt so I really won’t know about them until I get up there but I’ve done my research. I’ve visited Kentucky and I feel at home there. They have a great staff but a lot of things can change over the next season.”

As far as personal goals for his junior season, all Walder wants to do is, “finish, compete and have some fun but a team goal is to win a state championship and get a ring.”

Walder said that he plans to commit after his junior season.
