Position Change in College?

On Friday, Glenbard North (IL) Quarterback Brett Gasiorowski (6-foot-4 205 pounds) attended Pitt’s Prospect Camp. At camp he got asked by Head Coach Paul Chryst about trying a new position after he posted a sub 4.6 forty yard dash.

“I thought the camp went well. I threw the ball well throughout the camp. I felt I could have gotten a better forty but we only ran one. Coach Chryst came up to me in the second portion of the camp and told me it was faster than a 4.6 and wanted me to try Tight End for the second half of camp.

Gasiorowski, who has two scholarship offers for Quarterback from Buffalo and Colgate, said “I was excited to try Tight End. It was my first time playing Tight End. I thought I did great and towards the end I did really well in one-on-one drills.”

Former Quarterbacks Coach Brooks Bollinger was the main recruiter for Pitt but that role has since been filled by Director of Player Personnel Dan Kabala. When asked about what he likes about Pitt, Gasiorowski stated, “the coaching staff, the location of the school and the tradition.”

On Saturday, he attended a prospect camp at Wake Forest. His plans for the rest of the summer include attending more camps. He plans on camping at Iowa State next weekend, a few MAC schools, Princeton, Harvard and Penn in July and possibly Penn State.

We asked if this possible transition to Tight End could possibly bring new schools into the mix and Gasiorowski said, “Yes, I think I can get more looks as a Tight End with my athleticism. I’m going to camp at other schools as a Tight End and I feel I can earn BCS level offers as a Tight End.”

As far as a decision, he stated, “I’m not sure when I’ll be making a decision. I feel it’s been a long process. It’s fun but I would like to get it over with soon.”
