Quaker Valley ATH Talks About Pitt Camp

One Pitt camp is in the books and Dreambackfield.com caught up with a recruit who attended.

Quaker Valley Athlete Dane Jackson (5’11 ¾” 166 lbs.)  was at Pitt today for their first summer prospect camp. Jackson is a rare athlete that Pitt likes in a few spots. At Quaker Valley, he plays Quarterback and Cornerback. As a junior, he tallied over 2,000 total yards and 23 touchdowns on offense.

Jackson said of the camp today, “we started with 40’s and I ran a 4.5. Then, we did broad jumps. I started the camp at Receiver and did some one-on-one’s I went and did some Cornerback drills. In the afternoon, I switched back to Receiver.”

It hasn’t been long since Jackson and Pitt have been in contact. “(Linebackers) Coach Haering came to my basketball game during the season and he stopped at school with (Offensive Coordinator) Coach Rudolph. I talk to (Receivers) Coach Lewis a lot on Twitter.”

Jackson was asked about what sets him apart from other players and his response was, “I think my speed. I don’t think my 4.5 shows it all. I like running routes and covering but my focus sets me apart too. The Pitt coaches think highly enough of him that they invited him back to camp again. “Coach Rudolph told me to come back to another camp in June, maybe the 14th.”

There is no timetable for Jackson as far as making a decision. Although, he did say it would not be during his senior season. “I wouldn’t want the recruiting process to interfere with my season. I want to enjoy it.”

He plans to attend Temple’s camp on Sunday and may camp at Penn State on the 22nd. If Pitt offers, things may be different as he already has offers from Bowling Green, Duquesne, Eastern Michigan and Indiana State. He said, “Pitt would probably be number one if they offered. It’s my hometown school.”
