Pitt director of player personnel Dan Kabala scouts a number of quality preferred walk-on candidates for the football program. New Castle (PA) New Castle Senior High School athlete Jimmy Medure (6-foot-3 inches, 210 pounds) has been solidly on his radar for nearly a year. As letter of intent day approached, Kabala was able to lure Medure to Pittsburgh for an on-campus visit and solidify a commitment.

“I’m thrilled to be a Panther. I can’t wait to get down there and get started,” stated Medure. “Pitt started recruiting me in the spring time. I would receive letters from them and I attended a few of their camps. The letters were great because they told you about the perks of being a student-athlete at Pitt.”

“After one of Pitt’s prospect camps, Coach Kabala got my information and kept in touch with me. He told me he wanted me to walk-on the team. He felt that I had a lot to offer the team. Pitt is roughly an hour away from my house and it’s my hometown school. I looked forward to going down for a visit.”
