Edwards Brings Pass Rush to Pitt

2015 Pitt Recruit DE Allen Edwards

Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi has been adding a plethora of defensive talent to the football roster. It’s more than evident that he’s looking to rectify the Panthers’ nearly non-existent, anemic pass rush. An immediate focus was placed on several junior college defensive ends. The first to visit was 6-foot-3 inch, 245 pound Allen Edwards of Franklin (MA) Dean Junior College. Edwards, blown away by this visited, chose to Pitt commit to Pitt this weekend.
“I’m excited to be joining Pitt’s football team. I being a really high motor and a relentless pass rush,” said Edwards. “I can stop the run as well. It might be the strength. I’m looking forward to getting there, competing and gaining playing time.”

Edwards registered 13 ½ tackles for a loss and 8 sacks in 10 games last season. He was named first-team All-Northeast Football Conference.

“I fit into Pitt’s scheme. It fits my athletic skills. Coach Narduzzi thought I would be a good fit at Michigan State and he was recruiting me there. Once he left, Michigan State backed off recruiting me,” he said. “He came after me after Michigan State backed off and he knew I would fit his defense at Pitt. Pitt needs pass rush help and I plan on giving it.”
