Malvern (Pa.) Malvern Prep quarterback Alex Hornibrook was one of the first player to join Pitt’s 2015 recruiting class.  It appears he may be the first player in the class to actually join the team.  Hornibrook tweeted on Wednesday that he will graduate in December and enroll at Pitt in January.

“I always had it in my mind. I have thought about since my freshman year,” said Hornibrook.  “It’s something I was interesting in doing.” “It’s really going to be good for me. I can arrive at Pitt, adjust to college life, learn the playbook and work on adding weight.”

Hornibrook reached out to an old acquaintance to discuss his decision. “I know Andrew Ford, currently a freshman quarterback at Virginia Tech.  He graduated early and he told me it really helped him in academically and athletically,” he said.  “Andrew convinced me that getting to Pitt in January would give me a true advantage.”

Hornibrook is offer to a tremendous start this season. He’s thrown for nearly 500 yards and 8 touchdowns two games into the season.  The 6-foot-4 inch, 210 pound gun slinger chose Pitt over scholarship offers from Rutgers, Connecticut, Akron, Colgate, Yale, Fordham and Lafayette.

“I didn’t get to watch either of Pitt’s game this season. I only got to see the highlights,” he said.  “The Delaware game wasn’t on television but it’s exciting to see the Panthers beat a team by over 60 points.  I don’t care who they played.  That’s impressive.  Boston College is a pretty good team and I was pumped up when I heard they won.  James Conner is just killing it.”
