Pitt is high on the list of a NJ Receiver

Pitt has the receiver position locked up for the 2015 class with commitments from Tre Tipton and Quadree Henderson. They are wasting no time getting a good jump on a receiver in the 2016 class. He is Kelvin Harmon of Palmyra, New Jersey. Harmon stands 6’3” and weighs in at 190 pounds.

Harmon has visited Pitt on two occasions, once for a tour and he also attended one of Pitt’s prospect camps in early June. It was at the camp that Harmon developed a great relationship with his (potential) position coach, Greg Lewis.

“I like Coach Lewis a lot. He’s my position coach but he’s also the recruiter for my area. At camp he was very honest with me. He told me things I was good at and he told me things I need to work on. My hands and route running were my strengths and he said my weakness was my explosion and my speed.”

“We have great chemistry. I was asking him a lot of questions about the NFL and his experiences. He was just telling stories.”

Harmon, who also excels on his schools track team running the high hurdles and 400 meter dash, only has one scholarship offer right now and that is from Rutgers. Some others schools that are showing interest are Pitt, Boston College, Florida, Old Dominion, South Carolina and Temple.

Majority of these schools are looking at him as a receiver but he did mention that one school likes him for defense. He said, “South Carolina likes me at safety. I like receiver more but I wouldn’t turn down a safety offer from a school.”

Since Rutgers is his only offer, they are the favorite for Harmon. However, the Panthers and other teams are hanging with them. “I like Pitt, Florida and South Carolina in that order.”

“I like how Pitt’s campus is half campus, half city. I wasn’t expecting that. I like all the historical stuff and the different cultures that they have.”

Harmon stated that he runs a 4.6 40 yard dash and says that his strengths are always locating the ball, having strong hands, a high football IQ and his ability to read opposing defenders before the snap.

He doesn’t really have an idea what major he wants to choose but did specify that he has an interest in the history field.

As far as a commitment date, Harmon said, “it depends on how many offers I have. I could make it next spring (2015) if I have good offers. I guess I’ll have to talk to my parents and see, maybe next summer.”
